What is an Exercise Log?

An exercise or workout log systematically tracks your workouts, fitness goals, and progress on your fitness journey. It can be as simple as a notebook where you jot down the daily exercises or as complex as a customized app that logs workouts, tracks cardio and strength training sessions, and even monitors your weight loss progress.

These workout logs can be incredibly beneficial for beginners and advanced exercisers alike. They can help you stay motivated, ensure you meet your training goals, and even assist in planning upper-body, lower-body, and cardio exercises. With the advent of modern technology, workout log apps have become increasingly popular, offering features such as cloud backup of your data, tracking food intake, and the ability to log supersets.

Plus, they provide a comprehensive summary page of your records, making the data entry process swift and straightforward. An exercise log, effectively used, can truly revolutionize your approach to personal well-being and fitness.

The importance of keeping track of your workout session

There are numerous benefits to logging your workouts. Here are  a few reasons why keeping track of your workout sessions is crucial for achieving your fitness goals:

  • Efficient workout tracker: A simple workout log acts as an efficient workout tracker, offering an organized snapshot of your daily and weekly exercises. It helps you remember what you did in your last training session and plan effectively for the next.
  • Convenient workout planner: By logging workouts you can create a workout planner that aligns with your fitness goals by logging workouts. This allows for a more streamlined and targeted workout regimen, enhancing the effectiveness of your training sessions.
  • Monitor body measurements: Keeping a log book of your body measurements can help you see tangible progress as you continue your fitness journey. It's an excellent motivator as you can visually track your growth and improvement.
  • Record of training sessions: Each entry in your workout log records past training sessions. This historical data is invaluable when planning future workouts or adjusting your exercise plan based on your progress or changes in your fitness goals.

Benefits of these free Exercise Log templates

Simple to use and customizable

Our exercise log templates are simple. Patients can easily understand what to place under each column and where to add additional trackers.

Tracks progress

We've designed our template to help patients track their progress in whatever form, daily or weekly. With a design such as this, patients can effortlessly see their improvements after a month and even get to celebrate their little accomplishments within the week.

Provides insight into patient's health

Sometimes, symptoms only appear in a patient once they start exercising. By having a place where the patient can write their vital sign, thoughts, and feelings, practitioners can immediately see whether there's a need for a check-up or intervention based on the information on the template.

Builds good habits

When patients have hands-on experience curating their workout, writing down their daily results, and seeing what exercise does to their mental and physical health, it may encourage them to continue adding physical activity into their routine. This, consequently, helps them build the habit of moving their body and eating and sleeping well.

Free and accessible

Unlike a physical notebook where your patient has to design the template from scratch, our template comes pre-filled, saving them time and effort in conceptualizing and drawing tables to fill it out. Moreover, because our template is digitally accessible, they can answer it on their phone right after a workout outside or at the gym without downloading and subscribing to a separate app.
