Step 4: Formulate a communication plan

Explain how you will communicate with employees or individuals during an emergency. List the different methods of communication, such as alarms, public address systems, and text alerts, and describe the notification systems in place.

Step 5: Facilitate training and drills and secure emergency equipment

Outline the training and drill schedule to ensure all staff members are familiar with the emergency procedures and adhere to the training requirements. Provide a timeline for regular drills, such as fire, evacuation, and lockdown drills, and detail the frequency and content of training sessions. Indicate where the emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs), should be located throughout the facility and how often their maintenance is scheduled to ensure they are in proper working order.

Step 7: Regularly review and update

Specify how often the plan will be reviewed and updated and record any changes made. The appendices should include any additional resources and information relevant to the EAP, such as facility maps, emergency contact lists, and other pertinent documents.
