Introduction

InSync deserves some credit: it has developed a range of different healthcare solutions for private practices. In today’s digital age, healthcare businesses are looking for sophisticated systems to streamline both their administrative and clinical work, and InSync has catered well to this. Some of the resources integrated into InSync’s platform include electronic patient records, EMR, telehealth features, practice management solutions, a patient portal and medical billing assistance.

InSync offers a free version, and their paid plan begins at $59/month, which can be a bit on the pricey side, especially if you’re not getting your money’s worth.

Why would you want to consider an alternative to InSync?

We don’t want to discredit the good aspects of InSync, but we do think it’s important to be well informed before you commit to any practice management system. So let’s take a look at some of the platform’s drawbacks.

Implementation

The implementation process is important. When you select a new system, you want to ensure that the set-up process is as seamless as possible. Anything that takes too much time will have negative financial impacts for your business. Unfortunately, many of InSync’s users have reported that the system is complex and time-consuming to implement. The same is said for any new configurations that are required.

Integration

Although InSync offers a range of different solutions that are effective when implemented individually, they don’t always integrate well together. This makes it especially difficult when healthcare practices are looking for all-in-one systems.

InSync has also been reported to have an excessive number of bugs, and a user interface that is hard to navigate - it’s no wonder you're interested in finding a suitable alternative!

Top 5 InSync Alternatives

We’ve done some research for you, and identified the top 5 InSync alternatives. With information on each of these system’s features, pros, cons and pricing, hopefully you can find the perfect option and start elevating your practice’s operations.

Carepatron

Carepatron is a highly sophisticated, all-in-one practice management software. The system has been developed in collaboration with healthcare practitioners, ensuring it meets the necessary demands.

As an InSync alternative, Carepatron’s implementation process is seamless and timely, meaning you won’t have to worry about losing money or time while you set up! With Carepatron’s plans, users will get access to all of their features. On the other hand, if you have different systems already in place, Carepatron has fantastic integration capabilities, ensuring your workflow won’t be disrupted.

Features

Carepatron has a wide range of features, including:

Appointment Scheduling: Managing appointments is one of the most time-consuming tasks for administrative staff. With Carepatron’s appointment scheduling features, you can ensure your workflow is optimized and the needs of both patients and practitioners are being looked after.

Appointment Reminders: No-shows are a burden for every healthcare practice. With Carepatron’s automated appointment reminders you can reduce no-shows by up to 99%, saving you significant amounts of money and time.

Clinical Documentation: Carepatron is integrated with clinical documentation templates, resources and storage. The system also offers voice-to-text transcription, allowing practitioners to spend less time writing notes and more time doing what they love: treating patients!

We don’t have time to get into every feature here, but Carepatron also offers:

Why exactly is Carepatron the best alternative?

In addition to their robust feature package, Carepatron takes things a step further. A fantastic mobile app ensures that users can access their work remotely, which is an especially important feature in today’s age. As more and more professionals navigate working from home, it is absolutely essential that they can quickly and easily access their work remotely.

Importantly, every single aspect of Carepatron is also HIPAA-compliant. As I’m sure you know, medical compliance can be very complicated. When you implement a new practice management system into your business, you need to enter into a BAA and ensure that the platform has adequate safeguards so your patient information is protected. Fortunately, Carepatron takes privacy very seriously.

Pricing

One of the best parts about Carepatron is its affordability. You don’t want to have to break the bank to find a good software, but you also don’t want to sacrifice any essential features - luckily, Carepatron has the solution.

Carepatron offers a free plan that is perfect for start-up or smaller businesses or a Professional Plan ($12/month) or Organization Plan ($19/month), depending on your needs.

Simple Practice

SimplePractice is a very well known practice management software. The platform has been developed to suit a range of different healthcare fields, making it quite versatile. The features that are included in SimplePractice’s software include documentation, telehealth, client portal, mobile solutions and billing assistance.

Pros

SimplePractice offers three different plans, making it a good option for businesses interested in scalability. The possibility of growth should be at the forefront of every healthcare practice’s mind, and SimplePractice allows this growth to become a reality.

SimplePractice helped to revolutionize software within the healthcare industry, and because of that, their hard work shouldn’t be discredited. However, despite the massive impact that SimplePractice has had, it’s not without its drawbacks.

Cons

Telehealth: Although SimplePractice has telehealth features, these come at an additional price. In today’s digital age, offering telehealth services shouldn’t be hard for practitioners - and making them cost more decreases accessibility.
Customer Service: Despite their reputability, SimplePractice doesn’t have fantastic customer service. Online review platforms indicate user frustration, which is definitely something you should keep in mind.

Pricing

Starter Plan: $29/mo

Essential Plan: $69/mo

Plus Plan:  $99/Mo

TheraNest

TheraNest is another cloud-based practice management system designed for mental health practitioners. The platform is HIPAA-compliant (a basic necessity) and has a range of different features, including medical billing, coding, e-prescriptions, scheduling, telehealth and documentation resources.

Pros

TheraNest is big on client/practitioner relationships. By offering a useful client portal, TheraNest helps private practices develop meaningful relationships with their patients.

The platform also offers customizable note templates. This feature helps ensure that documentation is accurate, efficient and accessible to healthcare teams.

Cons

Customer Service: TheraNest’s customer service isn’t great. Online reviews reveal users having to wait extended periods of time to get in touch, which is something no practitioner has the time for.

How they organize pricing: Theranest’s pricing is a bit weird. They scale their plans according to how many clients a practice is seeing - a tricky way to navigate finances, especially if your business has 20 clients but they only see 10 of them regularly.

Pricing

  • $39 monthly for under 30 clients
  • $60 monthly for under 50 clients
  • $91 monthly for under 80 clients

Kareo

Kareo offers practice management solutions for a wide range of different healthcare practitioners, including general practice, psychology, psychiatry, optometry, neurology and physical therapy. With customizable options for each of these specialties, Kareo is integrated with the following features:

  • Billing Management
  • Telehealth
  • Patient Payments
  • Analytics
  • Patient Engagement Features

Pros

Mobile App: Kareo offers an intuitive mobile app, which is a pretty good benefit in our eyes. Being able to work remotely is more important now than it ever has been, and having access to a mobile app makes this much easier.

Kareo also understands the importance of growth for healthcare practices. They utilize analytics features to help practices achieve their goals and elevate patient engagement.

Cons

Hard to use: Unfortunately, Kareo’s software has been reported as difficult to use. When you introduce a new platform into your business, you want to ensure it’s as intuitive as possible, something that Kareo doesn’t quite live up to.

Pricing

Pricing for Kareo starts at $110 per month 🥴. We’re not sure what makes Kareo so expensive, but we definitely don’t think it’s worth such a steep price.

TherapyNotes

TherapyNotes has a good set of features and with a range of plans, the platform accommodates private practices of all different sizes. Some of the resources offered by TherapyNotes include scheduling, clinical documentation, client portal, telehealth and online payments.

Pros

TherapyNotes has a good set of core features designed to streamline practice management. If you’re looking for something reliable and straightforward, then TherapyNotes might be the way to go.

Cons

Limited training options: TherapyNotes doesn’t offer in-person training for users just getting started. When you are introducing a new system into your practice, you want the process to be as seamless as possible, so on-site training is always a good idea.

24/7 customer support not available: Customer support is one of the most important aspects of a practice management system. If any problem arises, you want to ensure you can get in touch with a support team regardless of the time of day. Unfortunately, TherapyNotes doesn’t provide on this front.

Pricing

The pricing for TherapyNotes starts at $59 USD, which is a little pricey considering what you get.

It’s time to leave InSync

Although InSync has its own benefits, if you consider the wide range of other suitable options available, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s not the perfect platform.

As new technologies emerge, it’s important to think about what will best suit your business. Hopefully this guide has pointed you in the direction of a few possible alternatives, and you feel more comfortable getting out there and finding a fantastic fit for your practice.

With Carepatron, you’ll be able to grow your business, attract new patients and save immense amounts of time and money. What are you waiting for? Get Carepatron now for free.
